Ambulatory Phlebectomy

Ambulatory phlebectomy micro extraction, also know as micro phlebectomy, is an in office procedure to remove surface varicosities. During this procedure the diseased vessel is delicately pulled through small needle punctures. The incision through which the vessel is pulled is so small that stitches are not required and virtually leave no scarring.
Ambulatory phlebectomies are performed under local anesthesia. This means that only the area to be treated is anesthetized. Most patients report that the procedure does not hurt, while some report minimal discomfort with the administration of the local anesthesia. The discomfort patients report is that of tiny pin pricks.
The recovery time is minimal with ambulatory phlebectomy. In fact patients walk for 20 minutes after the procedure in our office. Daily walking is encouraged. Only strenuous exercise is discouraged for 7 - 10 days, as well as using a hot tub or going swimming.
